Establishing what is right and just in God’s eyes for the common good.

Good governance
Isaiah 9:6-7 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” (NIV)
Righteousness and justice
Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. (NIV)
Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people. (NIV)
The common good
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (NIV)
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (NIV)
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (NKJV)

Commentary
Good governance is bringing heaven’s order to earth. God always governs well, with righteousness, justice and integrity. Good governance is who He is and it is also central to our God-given identity. We were created for righteous dominion, to govern well, and to be good stewards of God’s creation, for the benefit of everyone.
